To mark the beginning of the Buddhist New Year, there are Water-Splashing Festival all over Thailand.

Images of Buddha are bathed in water and younger Thai people show respect to monks and elders by sprinkling water over their hands.

Despite this traditional element to the festival, people tend to know these festivals for one thing mainly: getting completely drenched!......yes, you can expect water wars with locals and tourists playing with super-soakers!!

This festival takes place also in Laos, where parties and processions can go on for up to .... 10 DAYS!!!!
